Villa Information Pack - Weather Advice
Florida is a subtropical area that is subject
to severe weather conditions. Below we have provided some recommendations
that you should follow in the event of severe weather.
Thunderstorms and tropical storms:
They are regular occurrence throughout the year, especially during summer
season. Thankfully, these typically storms last only a couple of hours
or so. When there is a thunderstorm or tropical storm in your area, please
move all guests inside the home. And under no circumstances should you
use the swimming pool during a storm! Refrain from using any electrical
appliances including the telephone, until the severe weather has passed
over.
During thunderstorms and tropical storms, large electrical discharges
from storm may cause a power failure in your area. Don't worry, as the
power will soon be rerouted and restored.
Be safe:
In any event the following instructions will apply unless otherwise instructed.
- Bring all patio furniture into the garage
- Open all windows a fraction to equalize the pressure and keep the
damage to a minimum. It will be very noisy during the storm, but this
is normal.
- Fill bathtubs with water. Buy some canned food, bottled water, and
flashlights as we may experience power outages.
- Listen to the radio for updates on the storm path
- Keep away from the windows and doors
- Find a place to hide out the tornado or hurricane. A closet or utility
room nearest the center of the home is the safest place to be. Kneel
down and cover your head with your arms until you feel it has passed
by.
When it is over:
Once over, please check the news again before you venture out, as roads
may be flooded or blocked. You may be advised to limit trips until the
roads are clear. Finally, check the interior and exterior of the home
for storm damage. If you find any damage, please report it immediately
to our management company and they will schedule a repair crew to minimize
any inconvenience.
